The original Petipa/Minkus ballet was created in 1869 for the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre. These costumes were used in the 2002 production re-choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev for the National Opera of Paris (Bastille). The presentation style alludes to postcards and lithographies of the XIX century.
